One of our esteemed members Bobfudge39 (discord id or Mr_B0naprte on pdx forum) wrote the following instructions for how to edit a save game. This is particularly useful in multiplayer games.
Step 1 – Open the save via Notepad++ (found in Game Folder/scenarios/save games)Step 2 – Search for the country you want via capital ID (e.g. “capital = 175” (Moscow – USSR), 19 = London, 56 = Paris, 606 = Washington, DC, 1184 = Tokyo, 1235 = Nanjing, 515 = Rome, can find province Ids in game through the F12 console, then 'showid', and hovering over provinces)
Step 3 – search for what you would like to edit (for techs it would be “application =”)
Step 4 – edit the progress/tech/tech team as relevant
Step 5 – only required if editing tech teams – search back up to “team_slots” and edit in/out the relevant tech teams, the 0s are additional tech slots (that likely aren't used when the nation does not have enough base IC for those slots, but can still be edited in as being used – upon the completion of the next tech in-game, the additional slot will be lost [unless the base IC increases to the required level in the meantime])
